We have an active Children’s and Youth ministry, and we also have several outreach and fellowship ministries and opportunities. Specific Goals

MISSION STATEMENT

Oak Grove Baptist Church is a fellowship of believers whose firm foundation (Ps.18:2; 1 Cor. 3:11) is found in the person of Jesus Christ.  As “adopted children” in the faith (Eph. 1:5), we are called to do “everything as unto the Lord” (Col. 3:17) through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Gal. 5:25) Our mission consists of three specific goals that have shaped our past, influenced our present, and assist us for future endeavors as members of the Body of Christ.  These specific goals are: To Know, To Grow, and To Go.

To Know All Christians are to know Him… Know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. (I John 5:7)

Not like the demons or evils of creation who know Him (James 2:19), but rather as those who have confessed with their mouths, believed in their hearts (Rom. 10:9-10), admitted their sin (Rom.3:23), and welcomed Jesus as the Christ as supreme authority for their lives.  We are to know God’s grace (Eph. 2:8-9), identify with Him in His death and resurrection (Rom. 6:5-8)… and recognizing Him as the One true God of the past, present, and forever more. (Hebrews 13:8)

To Grow God calls us to grow in our salvation and our maturity in Christ. (1 Peter 2:2) We who are followers of the Way (John 14:6), have been justified (made acceptable by Christ) by faith (Gal. 2:16), and are called to be living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. (Rom. 12:1) If we are obedient to God’s call in our lives, we willingly allow Christ to transform our minds (Rom. 12:2) as God sanctifies us (1 Cor.1:2; 1 Thess. 4:3) and causes us to bear fruit & grow in His way. (Col. 1:10) As different parts of the Body of Christ, God equips His children with all types of gifts (Eph. 4:11-12) to serve Him faithfully, so that we might grow in our salvation (I Peter 2:2), discarding our old lives (II Cor. 5:17), we will be found as faithful and obedient instruments used for God’s glory.

To Go Just like the original disciples, all believers in Christ are commissioned to share God’s Good News (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8) so all that might hear (Mark 4:9) and call upon His name. (Rom. 10:13) God doesn’t want any to perish, but all to have eternal life. (John 3:16) It is only by His name that any can be saved. (Acts 4:12) All obedient followers of Christ “go” where God sends us (Matt. 9:37-38), sharing His truth to all the world (Mark 16:15), so that all who believe might be saved.

VISION STATEMENT

It is the vision of Oak Grove Baptist Church and its members to… “…whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord…” (Col. 3:17, 23)

By willingly submitting to God’s authority (His will) in our lives both individually & corporately as members of the Body of Christ, all our planning, outreach, ministries, events, and other activities organized under the name of the church and Almighty God will be done with purpose.  We will see:  1) others “outside” the faith experience hope, salvation, grace, & forgiveness, 2) God’s territory and influence increase, 3) others “inside” the faith included, equipped (trained), and growing in their faith, 4) positive fellowship promoted within the Body of Believers, and 5) further honor and glory brought to His Kingdom!

As unique members of the Body of Christ with different gifts, talents, and abilities, we as a fellowship will ever strive to work collectively, recognizing our differences & celebrating that which brings us together.  We will remain theologically sound in our teachings, be intentional in our worship, reach out to each generation both creatively and consistently with God’s love and truth, be efficient in our practices, sharing the load of our ministries with those who are called to serve with us, while prayerfully seeking God’s face and direction as we minister to others whether in our fellowship, community, state, nation and world as the Lord should so lead.

Church Membership

We’re so glad you’re interested in becoming a part of the Oak Grove family!

At Oak Grove, we believe that membership is not only important, but also a biblical command. A commitment to Christ is not complete without a commitment to His Bride the Church which is represented by a local body of believers.

To be a member at Oak Grove Baptist Church, you have to have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. This means that you have had a public profession of faith, and that you profess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord. You must also have been baptized by immersion, and promise to regularly attend and support Oak Grove Baptist Church and its ministries and fellowships as scripture commands. We also require that you agree and adhere to the Holy Bible first and foremost, and that you agree to the Southern Baptist Convention’s Doctrinal Statement as outlined in the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.

We believe God calls every Christian to commit to a local church body and ask that our prospects join when the Lord directs them to unite with the body here at Oak Grove.
